Dantel Inc. Announces Major Deployment of WebMon Edge Surveillance Platform for a Major RBOC - Fiber Network Rollout

FRESNO, Calif. – (BUSINESS WIRE) – September 20, 2005

Dantel, Inc., the leader in network surveillance and management systems, today announced selection of its WebMon® Edge surveillance platform by a Regional Bell Operating Company (RBOC) for deployment in its new high-speed fiber network (FTTX). This project marks the second instance in less than a year that Dantel's WebMon Edge has been selected as an integral part of a major fiber network rollout by this RBOC.

"In this application, the self-contained WebMon Edge provides concise monitoring and diagnostic capabilities for quickly addressing critical service affecting power failures. The Edge monitors power to all associated network elements, thereby increasing reliability and minimizing associated maintenance and down time. The Edge is fully manageable via SNMP v1, v2c, or V3," says Frank Martinez, Dantel's director of account management.

The WebMon Edge (NEBS level 3/UL/CSA/CE certified) is designed to improve Quality of Service by intelligently collecting and reporting mission critical information for businesses across various industries including telecommunications, utilities, cable, industrial, wireless and internet service providers. The Edge detects events, converting and reporting the information in SNMP v1, v2c and v3 protocol, and interfaces to any existing centralized network operation center (NOC) or Dantel's VisionMaster Micro-NOC™ Management System.

Recent attributes and features incorporated into the WebMon Edge include: derived discretes, derived analogs and Cellular to Ethernet Gateway with static routing capabilities. "While the WebMon Edge already had highly robust software, these additional features represent Dantel's commitment to delivering high quality products that exceed customer requirements," said Al Hutcheson, CEO of Dantel. "These features bring the Edge one step closer to cognitive capabilities."

The Edge provides a cost effective solution as a stand-alone application, or as an integrated part of a network-wide surveillance and monitoring solution. The Edge has also been incorporated into Dantel's Disaster Resistant Event Network (DREN).
